Copycat Cher Lloyd finds someone new to take fashion inspiration from... Nora Batty

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

From urban to elderly: Cher Lloyd left her Liverpool hotel sporting a new style

She has been criticised for simply copying Cheryl Cole's look rather than forging her own signature style.

And perhaps Cher Lloyd has taken the comments to heart, as she stepped out yesterday looking nothing like her X Factor mentor.

Instead, the 17-year-old took fashion inspiration from a very different style icon - of sorts - Last Of The Summer Wine's Nora Batty.

Cher left her Liverpool hotel ahead of last night's X Factor tour concert at the Liverpool Echo Arena looking more elderly than her usual urban style.

The Worcestershire teen wore a green striped shirt tucked into a denim skirt with a cosy knitted cardigan.

She wore thick woollen tights - not unlike those worn by Compo's gruff next door neighbour, although Cher's at least appeared to fit her slender legs properly.

New look: The 17-year-old usually prefers a more urban style

The finalist added dashes of colour with her candy pink ankle socks and bright orange nails.

And of course, no elderly-inspired outfit would be complete without the scarf tied elegantly around her handbag.

While her bizarre ensemble had a whiff of Nora Batty, Cher's hairstyle resembled Tinkerbell from Peter Pan.

Miss Lloyd's flame-red mop was piled high on her head in an enormous top bun.

Keeping warm: Katie Waissel also went for a cosy knit, but managed to avoid looking like a grandmother

While she seems to have departed from mimicking Cheryl, temporarily at least, Cher admitted in an interview last year that she loves the comparisons between her and her mentor Cole.

Lloyd said: 'I admire her fashion, her looks and I even have a tattoo of a musical note like hers on my hand.'

And Cher appears to have sprouted her own band of followers.

Miss Lloyd, who was raised in a travelling community, has apparently inspired other gypsy girls to audition for talent shows.

Olivia Ayres, 15, says Cher's success prompted her to audition for this year's X Factor.

The teen told the Daily Star: 'Cher is amazing and a real inspiration to us gypsy girls.

'She got a lot of abuse and was called a pikey for her heritage but she stood up to all the bullying and, if anything, was all the better for it.

'She shows we're not all stuck in caravans with nothing else to do.'
